چکیده

Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers are still extensively used in industrial systems. In the literature, many publications can be found considering PID controller design for processes with integrators and unstable transfer functions. However, due to structural limitations of PID controllers, generally, good closed loop performance cannot be achieved with a PID for controlling aforementioned processes and usually a step response with a high overshoot and oscillation is obtained. On the other hand, PI-PD controllers are proved to give very satisfactory closed loop performances for these processes. Hence, the paper introduces a simple approach to obtain parameters of a PI-PD controller for the control of integrating and unstable processes. Simulation examples are given to illustrate the value of the approach proposed. Copyright © 2006 USTARTH

A New PI and PID Control Design Method for Integrating Systems with Time Delays

Allowable PI and PD controller gains for a class of unstable MIMO systems with input/output delays have been investigated in [5, 12]. Using the results of these studies, we propose a new method for tuning the parameters of PI and PID controllers for integrating processes with time delays. As an application of this method, we design PI and PID controllers for Active Queue Management of TCP flows...

Nonlinear Model-Based Control of Unstable Wells

This paper illustrates the potential of nonlinear model-based control applied for stabilization of unstable flow in oil wells. A simple empirical model is developed that describes the qualitative behavior of the downhole pressure during severe riser slugging. A nonlinear controller is designed by an integrator backstepping approach, and stabilization for open-loop unstable pressure setpoints is...

Tuning PI controllers based on H Weighted Sensitivity

H∞ control theory is usually associated with highorder controllers. In this paper, simple tuning rules (extending the well-known SIMC) for the Proportional-Integral (PI) algorithm are derived analytically based on H∞ Weighted Sensitivity. The presented approach deals with stable, integrating and unstable plants in a unified way, avoiding any notion of coprime factorization. The final tuning inv...

A Unified IMC based PI/PID Controller Tuning Approach for Time Delay Processes

This paper proposes a new PI/PID controller tuning method within filtered Smith predictor (FSP) configuration in order to deal with various types of time delay processes including stable, unstable and integrating delay dominant and slow dynamic processes. The proposed PI/PID controller is designed based on the IMC principle and is tuned using a new constraint and without requiring any approxima...
